Cummins diesel generators for backup of refrigeration equipment production by TM HitLine

If you are a leader in any market niche among manufacturers of certain equipment, having a backup power supply is one of the cornerstones of your business.

This is one of our clients, Hitline, a leading manufacturer of commercial refrigeration equipment for retail. The Hitline portfolio includes more than 3,000 items of equipment for stores of various formats. The demand for and quality of the company’s products is also evidenced by the geography of exports to such countries as: Australia, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Canada, the United States, France, Switzerland, and others (43 countries in total).

No wonder our client already had a Cummins C200 power plant in his assets, which he purchased from us back in 2014. But time goes on, and so does the need for backup power supply.

This time, the customer chose a Cummins C330 diesel power plant. The buyer did not consider other manufacturers a priori, because he already had experience in operating premium diesel generator equipment from Cummins. Among the advantages of the equipment that were really important to the customer were:

  • the ability to operate the power plant in both standby and permanent (offline) mode;
  • stable operation at temperatures from -25 to +50 °C without loss of power;
  • ability to withstand a short circuit of up to 1200 A,
  • warranty obligations of the Supplier,
  • availability of a service department in Kharkiv.

The only right choice in this case was a Cummins C330D5 power plant in a noise-absorbing all-weather casing.

By the way, Cummins is a world leader in the development and production of pre-integrated generator sets from 8 to 3,300 kVA with an annual turnover of about $3.5 billion.

All major components – engine, alternator, switches and control systems – are designed and manufactured by Cummins.

Despite the relatively high price (this is a representative of the premium segment in the line of stations we supply), the customer was adamant in his choice, having 7 years of experience with a similar product.

This station is based on a Cummins diesel engine (UK) and a Stamford alternator (UK). The rated power in the permanent mode of operation is 240 kW (300 kVA), in the standby mode – 264 kW (330 kVA). Fuel consumption ranges from 31 to 63 liters per hour at a load of 50 to 100%, respectively. With a tank volume of 508 liters, the operating time without refueling can vary from 8 to 16 hours, depending on the load. And most importantly, this station can operate in a constant mode around the clock for a long time.

The Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine service department delivered, installed and connected the equipment. The service engineer successfully carried out commissioning and training of the Customer’s personnel in the safe operation of the diesel generator power plant.
