The price of bread is a sensitive issue for many producers of this strategically important product.

Significant tension between the administration of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the management of Krymkhlib OJSC, headed by its CEO Tatyana Khmil, which arose several years ago over the cost of “social bread,” resulted in a serious conflict. At a certain point, the situation required a solution. One of the possible ways to solve this problem was to reduce production costs.
“We are not afraid of investments at all. We will invest in Krymkhlib, we need to change boilers and compressors, because we are constantly scared that the price of gas will increase several times. We need to have time to replace the equipment with less energy-intensive ones,” one of the leading investors, a member of the Crimean Supreme Council, Vladimir Slabovsky, told Novy Region in an interview.

Dalgakiran specialists were among those who proposed, proved and implemented solutions as part of the technical re-equipment of production, which ultimately helped to significantly reduce the cost of Crimean bread.

New compressors helped save money

Industrial bread baking involves the transportation of large quantities of bulk cargo, such as grain and flour. Transportation is carried out by pneumatic means and requires a huge amount of compressed air.

If we add to this the process air involved in other production processes, it becomes clear that compressed air accounts for a significant share of costs at all stages of bread production – from the flour milling stage to the stage of removing the finished bread from the oven.

And, of course, it becomes clear why bakers are so careful when choosing compressor equipment – even minor interruptions in compressed air supply mean that they have to stop the production process.

Today, Dalgakiran compressors successfully cope with the task of uninterrupted supply of compressed air to the Crimean bakeries of the TIS holding.

The choice of our company among the many applicants-suppliers of industrial compressors was not accidental. In order to make the optimal selection of equipment from a huge range of models and offer a design solution for its placement, Dalgakiran specialists had to not only thoroughly understand their own products, but also understand the main stages in the technology of flour milling and baking production.

It is precisely this “synthetic” combination of knowledge of our own equipment and understanding of the technological processes in which compressed air is involved that our company achieves when we simultaneously study production, technological lines and participate in the technical councils of enterprises when selecting equipment.

The replacement of the outdated reciprocating compressor fleet of the Crimean bakeries with new modern equipment with an electronic control system and full automation has significantly increased the reliability of the compressed air production process, eliminated the possibility of failures due to operator errors and reduced maintenance costs.

In addition to its reliability and attractive price, our equipment has low operating costs, which account for a significant portion of the costs of bread production.

Electricity accounts for the lion’s share of compressed air production costs – more than 70%. To optimize these costs, the technical council of the Simferopol Bakery Plant, part of the TIS holding, decided to install a compressor with a frequency converter that consumes electricity in direct proportion to the compressed air consumption of the production. This helped reduce electricity costs by an average of 20%.

Despite the high initial cost of such a compressor, its payback period for one-shift operation is 3-4 years. Based on the successful experience of using the first compressor with a frequency converter for one year, the management of DKHP decided to install a second compressor of the same Inversys series.

It is gratifying to know that the Crimean bakery plants of TIS Holding are among the companies (unfortunately, not many) that understand that optimizing compressor maintenance is also one of the ways to reduce production costs.

Maintenance of the compressor fleet by a specialized third-party organization on the basis of a subscription agreement, which for Crimean bakeries is the Dalgakiran service, is a solution that can reduce the total maintenance costs and, most importantly, provide confidence that the service is performed on time and professionally.
