Construction of a modular NIBA cooling tower as part of the modernization of the water cooling system at the Dnipro Switch Plant

Process water cooling systems are improving every year, becoming more energy efficient, compact and durable. Outdated cooling towers made of metal frames and covered with slate are increasingly being replaced at Ukrainian production facilities with modern ones made of composite materials. The service life of such cooling towers is more than 30 years.

Due to the failure of a typical fan cooling tower cooling water at one of the largest machine-building plants in Ukraine, Dniprovsky Streloknyi Plant, the company decided to replace it with a new one. Following the results of the tender for the construction of a cooling tower and pumping station, the proposal using a NIBA modular cooling tower (Turkey) from Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine won.

One of the main features of the NIBA modular cooling tower is the fiberglass reinforced plastic (GPR) material used in the construction of the main structures of the system. Corrosion and UV resistance are not the only advantages of this material. It also has many other advantages, including durability, strength, minimal maintenance, ease of repair, elasticity and structural flexibility.

The high capacity of the cooling tower – 400^m3 of water per hour with cooling from +35 °C to +26 °C – allows the company’s main production processes to be supplied with process water at the specified temperature.

During the installation of a modular cooling tower and pumping station at Dnipropetrovs’kyy Railway Switching Plant, Dalgakiran specialists completed a turnkey project: they carried out design, construction and installation works, commissioning and training of the client’s personnel.

As a result of the project implementation, Dnepropetrovsk Railroad Switch Plant received a modern energy-efficient modular cooling tower that ensures uninterrupted cooling of process water at the enterprise. The manufacturer’s warranty for the installed Niba cooling tower is 20 years.
