The quality of reliable copper

Konstantinovka Metallurgical Equipment Plant is one of the leading enterprises in the Donetsk region that produces cast copper molds for open-hearth and blast furnaces, manufactures custom copper equipment, and produces copper and graphite electrodes. The plant is a remnant of the Soviet era, so previously, the production did not have insurance against failures in the public power grid. However, copper casting production is a continuous process. The likelihood of melt control failures due to power surges can lead to lower product quality or even a significant percentage of rejects.
The installation of a 415 kVA Doosan/Daewoo diesel generator as a backup power supply solved the problem of emergency power outages for the plant. In the event of a power outage, the power plant starts to operate and electricity is supplied to the casting control unit via a transformer substation. The presence of a microprocessor-based electronic control panel (GPK 510) makes it easy to control the generator operation, and the manual control panel allows the operator to simply control the unit’s operating parameters.
