Modernization of blowers at the treatment facilities of Municipal Enterprise “Miskvodokanal” of Melitopol City Council

Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine LLC continues to make efforts to reduce electricity consumption in the housing and utilities sector of Ukraine. The year 2018 was no exception. Thanks to the fruitful cooperation of our company’s specialists and employees of housing and communal services, we managed to implement a number of projects to replace energy-consuming equipment at wastewater treatment plants. One of the examples is the installation of a ROBUSCHI ES 125/4P blower at the wastewater treatment plant of the Municipal Utility Company “Miskvodokanal” of the Melitopol City Council.

It should be noted that the ES 125/4P blower is manufactured by the Italian manufacturer GARDNER DENVER S.r.l. – Divisione ROBUSCHI. ROBUSCHI blowers meet the highest quality standards, have quality certificates from international certification bodies and certificates of compliance with the requirements of state standards of Ukraine. The electric motors that power ROBUSCHI blowers also meet the highest quality and energy efficiency requirements. The European DIN motor standards are based on the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) energy efficiency classification standard. Thus, since January 2015, all electric motors with a power of 7.5 kW to 375 kW in Europe have been manufactured with an energy efficiency class of at least IE3 (and since January 2017, electric motors with a power of 0.75 kW to 7.5 kW have been included in this list). ROBUSCHI blowers, like all European-made equipment, are equipped with electric motors with energy efficiency class IE3 according to the International Energy Efficiency Class.

The benefits of using electric motors with a high energy efficiency class were also experienced in practice by employees of the Municipal Utility Company “Miskvodokanal” of the Melitopol City Council. Prior to the installation and commissioning of the ES 125/4P blower (with a 110 kW ABB electric motor and energy efficiency class IE3), the water utility’s treatment facilities were equipped with BP rotary compressors with similar performance and pressure characteristics. However, the BP rotary screw compressors used were equipped with electric motors with a low energy efficiency class IE1, and, accordingly, had lower efficiency. Thanks to the use of a more energy-efficient motor, it was possible to reduce the current from 184 A (when operating rotary compressors) to 146 A when operating the ROBUSCHI ES 125/4P blower. The performance, operating pressure and installed power of the motor are unchanged, but the power consumption and energy consumption have been significantly reduced.

Employees of the water utility also note the design features of the original ROBUSCHI ES 125/4P blower, which make it easier to control the equipment during operation and to maintain it. Unlike rotary compressors, the ROBUSCHI blower is equipped with an automatic belt tensioning system. This allows the blower to start smoothly, without jerking or shock loads. The frequency and duration of maintenance is increased and reduced. During operation, the blower’s condition is monitored visually by means of indicators on the panel of the noise-absorbing casing. Thus, there is no need to stop the blower and open the panels for inspection.

A pleasant fact for the water utility employees was that the specialists of Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine LLC commissioned the equipment and instructed the service personnel free of charge. Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine LLC is the official representative and authorized service center of the blower manufacturer, GARDNER DENVER S.r.l. – Divisione ROBUSCHI. After the equipment is put into operation, the service specialists of Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine LLC fill in the warranty card and the warranty period starts from that day.

The ROBUSCHI ES 125/4P blower is a modern, energy-efficient, reliable and easy-to-use equipment, which has been confirmed in practice during operation. Therefore, employees of the Municipal Utility Company “Miskvodokanal” of the Melitopol City Council recommend ROBUSCHI blowers to utility companies.
