High-performance ID TURBO turbochargers for Pokrovskoye Mine Administration

Pokrovskoye Mine Administration is a production unit within Metinvest Pokrovskugol. Today, it is the largest coking coal producer in Ukraine with a workforce of almost 7,000 people. In 2021, Pokrovskoye Mining Group commissioned 5 new longwalls, sank 33 km of mine workings and produced 6.2 million tons of coal. The investment program aimed at modernizing technological processes amounted to UAH 1.5 billion in 2020 alone.

In 2021, Pokrovskoye Mine Administration carried out a large-scale modernization of the compressed air supply system, replacing outdated compressor equipment with modern, more energy-efficient, productive and reliable equipment. The task of supplying and commissioning new centrifugal compressors was solved by the specialists of Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine LLC.

ID TURBO COMPRESSOR (IHI-DALGAKIRAN) TRX-120 centrifugal compressors were selected to support the mine’s technological processes. A total of 4 such turbo compressors were delivered. The capacity of each of them is 250 m3/min at an overpressure of 6 bar.

TRX series turbochargers are true champions in their class. These are the most productive and technologically advanced turbochargers in the IHI-DALGAKIRAN product line (standard model range). They were chosen for the production needs of the Pokrovskoye Mining and Processing Plant not only because of their ability to produce large volumes of air, but also because of a number of technical advantages:

• Impellers made of high-quality stainless steel, which are not only corrosion-resistant but also have impressive wear resistance.
• Easy-to-maintain cartridge-type suction filters that require little time to change, which means lower costs.
• The one-piece cast housing of the gearbox and air coolers ensures the strength and durability of the turbocharger.
• Copper heat exchangers (pipes and fins) provide efficient heat transfer and cooling.
• Automatic maintenance of constant working pressure and anti-pump protection.
• DCS and SCADA compatible control system.

Since compressed air is used to operate mining equipment and ventilate mine horizons (ventilation, degassing and mine gas utilization complexes), it can be said that, in fact, the entire operation of a modern mine depends on the reliability of the operated compressors.

To date, ID TURBO TRX-120 centrifugal compressors have already been put into operation and are successfully fulfilling production tasks. The vast experience of supplying such turbochargers around the world enables the joint venture of IHI (Japan) and DALGAKIRAN (Turkey) to guarantee the long-lasting and uninterrupted operation of the supplied equipment.
