Frequency-driven screw compressors for Odesa Railways

At the end of 2019, Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine completed the delivery and commissioning of three Dalgakiran Inversys 110 Plus screw compressors under an agreement with the Odesa Railways.

Compressed air is widely used in the production and technical divisions of Ukrzaliznytsia. To reduce energy costs, the state-owned enterprise is gradually upgrading its production equipment, including compressor equipment.

Odesa Railways used outdated water-cooled reciprocating compressors to power its switching mechanisms and car decelerators equipped with pneumatic actuators. Such equipment has a rather low energy efficiency, and water cooling requires the use of additional equipment such as a cooling tower and pumps, which significantly increases operating, maintenance and repair costs.

Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine specialists were tasked with selecting equipment that does not require additional operational infrastructure and is capable of continuous operation at railway junctions. As a result of the tender, three Dalgakiran Inversys 110 Plus screw compressors with a capacity of 20.1^m3/min of compressed air were delivered. The direct drive and frequency converters, which allow the compressor to adjust its performance depending on consumption, have significantly reduced the company’s operating costs.

The Inversys 110 Plus compressors are equipped with WEG motors designed for heavy-duty operation over a wide range of speeds. They are classified as “Premium Efficiency” with category F insulation and IP55 protection. The bearings of the compressor unit are insulated and protected against electrical erosion, and the motor is equipped with three PTC sensors to prevent overheating of the compressor. A two-stage intake air filtration system consisting of a replaceable microfiber front panel filter and a cassette-type air intake with replaceable paper elements minimizes problems that can occur in dusty environments by providing clean air for the screw compressor and cooling system. The cooling system with an aluminum combination cooler is equipped with a four-way thermostatic valve that prevents water condensation at low temperatures, extending compressor life.

The Inversys 110 Plus compressors feature an LCD control panel that displays operating and service functions and an ergonomic design for easy maintenance.

DALGAKIRAN provides a 5-year warranty for all major components of screw compressors and a 10-year warranty for the screw unit.
