First in Ukraine: synchronization of three 10.5 kV diesel generators with a total capacity of 6 MW

The successful implementation of another project to provide backup power supply to Oliyar, one of the largest vegetable oil producers, has become a record in Ukraine, as it was the first time that three diesel power plants with a capacity of 2500 kVA each and a voltage of 10.5 kilovolts were synchronized.

Ukraine is the largest producer and exporter of vegetable oil in the world, and Oliyar is one of the largest in Ukraine. As of 2020-2021, the company was one of the five largest Ukrainian producers of refined sunflower oil (8.2% of total production) and ranked second among rapeseed oil producers (27.7%). The modern and innovative company Oliyar, whose production facilities are located in Stavchany village, Lviv region, includes an oil extraction plant, an oil refining and deodorization plant, a packing house and an elevator. For many years, the trademarks MAYOLA, RODYNNA, SONYASHNA, OLIYAR and OLIYAR MASTERFRY have been a favorite among many Ukrainians and foreign consumers alike.

To ensure uninterrupted operation of the enterprise during long power outages, the company’s management decided to install powerful backup diesel power plants capable of operating around the clock for a long time. Since the required total production capacity is about 6000 kW and some consumers require power supply with a voltage of more than 10 kilovolts, the customer was offered to install 3 Cummins C2500D5A diesel power plants with a synchronization system. The selected equipment is one of the most reliable in the world and is optimally suited for the tasks set by the customer.

Despite a busy schedule due to the constant power outages that resulted from terrorist attacks on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure, Dalgakiran engineers successfully completed the installation, commissioning and parallel operation of the generators in synchronization mode on time.

The main characteristics of the delivered Cummins C2500D5A diesel generators:

• Reserve power: 2500 kVA / 2000 kW; main power: 2250 kVA / 1800 kW.
• Diesel engine: Cummins QSK60G8, V16, 60.2 liters, 2916 hp and 336 l/h at 75% load.
• Alternator: Stamford P80HVS, 50 Hz, 10500-11000 V.
