Energy for science
Zmeiny Island

The population of this small piece of land, a rocky island in the Black Sea, consists only of border guards and lighthouse service personnel during stormy winter months. In the warmer months, from spring to fall, migratory birds and scientists appear here.

That is why the village generator at Zmeinoye, which remains in mothballs during the winter, will have to provide energy for the life and work of the entire scientific village during the warm season. In addition, from time to time, the autonomous power plant needs to meet the energy demands of household appliances of tourists who come here.

Based on this specificity, the scientists took a balanced approach to choosing a power supply source. After preliminary calculations, they chose the DJ 23 PR generator with a main power of 20 kW.

Even non-professionals can easily control the operation of this model of diesel power plants. And the unpretentiousness of these generators has earned them the reputation of tireless and reliable workhorses. “Our generator replaced an old unit at Zmeinoye that had reached the end of its useful life,” said Alexey Ivlev, head of the southern branch of Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine.

– The fuel fine-tuning system, electronic speed regulator, and modern injection system significantly increase the service life of PERKINS diesel generators, and the high-quality protective housing allows this model to be used outdoors and in harsh marine conditions without worrying about the operation of internal components. The advantages of the DJ 23 PERKINS “snake” diesel generator also include the compliance of its design with European and American environmental standards.
