Extrusion lines for technological polymer sheets and tapes for thermoforming

The extrusion lines are used to produce thermoforming machine tapes, ABS and polycarbonate sheets, polyethylene sheets, membrane and barrier food tapes for product packaging.

We offer modern single- and twin-screw universal lines for the production of 1-2-3-layer PP, PS, PET tapes with optimal performance.

What are polymer sheets and tapes for?

Polymer films are used in a variety of industries and activities. They are most often used for individual packaging of products, in construction, electrical engineering and other areas of production that require simple and fast primary packaging of products.

Polymer belts are typically produced using a flat-slot die. The belts are cooled on calender units. The resulting belt is used primarily for vacuum forming to produce containers, e.g. for food.

The main polymeric materials used in film production are most often:

  • polyolefins, mainly low-density polyethylene (PE-LD);
  • linear low-density polyethylene (PE-LLD);
  • high-density polyethylene (PE-HD);
  • polystyrene (PS);
  • polypropylene (PP);
  • polyvinyl chloride (PVC);
  • polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

In addition, other polymeric materials are used, such as polyamide (PA), ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer (EVAC), ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH), polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), and polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC).

To obtain a multilayer film, different materials are combined by co-extrusion, which allows for a material characterized by greater wear resistance and strength.

Co-extrusion improves the material’s processing properties, such as weldability, to facilitate the operation of packaging machines, including by increasing the film’s rigidity. It also reduces costs by reducing the overall thickness of the film without changing its mechanical properties, improving characteristics, such as increasing the coefficient of friction, transparency, heat resistance, and especially the barrier properties of the film.

Advantages.

Advantages of our extrusion lines:

  • high screw plasticity – ensures excellent quality of the finished product and maximizes extrusion efficiency;
  • three calendars with polished chrome surface for fast and efficient material cooling;
  • temperature control with an accuracy of ± 1 °C – provides control over the plasticization process, as well as the thickness and smoothness of the resulting sheet;
  • Powerful high-torque motors and four-axis automatic tension control provide easy control of the speed and thickness of the sheet;
  • universal lines for PP, PS, PET tapes. Three types of polymers can be processed on one line.

The line uses a modernized heater design that saves up to 30% of energy compared to traditional heaters. The main extruder is equipped with three powerful degassing zones to eliminate the problem of residual moisture in the flakes, and all extruders are equipped with melt filters, pressure sensors, and melt pumps.
