Wine from the shores of a dry estuary

Wine from the shores of a dry estuary

Niva operates on the production and scientific basis of the famous Tairov Wine Institute.
In 1912, Vasyl Tairov initiated the construction of a winery station on the banks of the Sukhoi Estuary. In the same year, an experimental vineyard was laid out and a grafting workshop was organized. Despite all the hardships and vagaries of fate, the station continued to function and eventually turned into an institute that trains qualified personnel for domestic winemakers. In 1991, the institute was transformed into Niva, a research and production enterprise tasked with producing and marketing its own wine. Thanks to its high-quality product, it took Niva only two years to conquer its niche. Today, Tairovsky winery Niva is rightly considered one of the best wineries in Ukraine. It supplies its products not only to its closest neighbors – Russia and Belarus – but also to the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and China. In 2010, the company opened an office in Singapore, and in 2012 in Vietnam. The high quality of the wines is confirmed by more than five dozen awards won at international competitions. In 2006, the wine under the Odesa Steppe trademark was recognized as the “Best Product of the Year”.

Growing our own grapes allows us to produce competitively priced wine material of predictable quality. The total area of vineyards located on the banks of the Dniester and Dnipro-Bug estuaries exceeds 2.5 thousand hectares. They grow berries of the best varieties: from merlot and chardonnay to muscat ottonel and traminer.
Taking care of the quality of its wines, the plant purchased the most modern technological equipment in Europe. Wine is bottled on seven lines. The champagne bottling line uses Italian equipment, which allows the process to be carried out at temperatures close to zero.

The line for bottling red and white wine maintains such high sterility that there is no need to pasteurize the product, which means that its taste and aroma are preserved. Still wines are produced both in glass bottles and in cheaper modern packaging: plastic and cardboard “Pur Pack”, which reduces the final cost of production.

Taking care of maintaining a continuous production cycle and trouble-free operation of expensive and high-end equipment, Niva has installed a powerful backup power supply. Dalgakiran, a company that has been operating steadily and successfully in Ukraine for many years, was chosen as a supplier of power equipment. After assessing the needs of the company, Dalgakiran engineers recommended that the winemakers purchase a Cummins diesel power plant, known for the reliability of its equipment. The choice was made for the C450D5e model, with a backup capacity of 450 kVA and a main capacity of 409 kVA, which currently fully covers the needs of Niva’s production facilities in the event of outages of the main power supply lines. Having its own reliable source of power supply has completely relieved the company of headaches in difficult weather conditions, icing and stormy winds, which are common in the Black Sea region.
