Design and principle of operation of surface block compressor stations

The block pumping station differs from other types of pumping stations in that it is a separate module equipped with its own frame, which allows the unit to be mounted on a concrete surface without the need to create a foundation base.

The CNS is a robust, sealed tank (usually made of fiberglass), inside which there is a submersible pump(s) with electric motors. In addition, connecting pipelines with nozzles and shut-off valves are installed in the internal volume of the tank, designed to connect the pumping station with surface pipelines. There is also space inside the tank for additional installation (if not provided by the manufacturer) of a ventilation system and a liquid level sensor. The sewage pumping station is controlled by a technological platform located in its interior, as well as special ladders for servicing the unit. The main materials used in the production of sewage pumping stations are polypropylene, stainless steel and reinforced fiberglass. Depending on the manufacturer’s configuration, the PPS can be equipped with cutting nets and debris screens designed to filter the working medium and grind water-insoluble inclusions. For regions with unstable power supply, the pump station can be equipped with a backup internal combustion engine.

The principle of operation of the surface unit SPS is extremely simple: the unit starts working when the liquid working medium entering the lower compartment reaches the required level. Then, with the help of pumps installed in the tank, sewage and wastewater are pumped through the supply pipelines into the receiving tank and then moved under pressure into the outlet pipeline. Check valves located on the pipelines prevent the process medium from flowing back.
