Design of centrifugal pumps for general industrial applications

The design of a centrifugal pump is a robust and reliable casing with a diffuser (a cavity with a rotating wheel for liquid) and a rotor, i.e. a shaft on which the impellers are mounted. The principle of operation of this unit is extremely simple: the liquid in the pump is moved by impellers that look like a turbine. The presence of several impellers in the rotor allows to increase the pressure-flow characteristics of the pump and significantly reduce its dimensions.

• Centrifugal pumps are prone to cavitation (the process of forming cavities in a liquid);
