The power range of dry coolers is from 50 kW to 1200 kW.

There are 2 types of dry coolers: FDH (horizontal dry coolers) and FDV (vertical dry coolers).

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

FRITERM FDH/FDV is a series of dry coolers with 4 different noise levels:

1 – (S) Standard
2 – (L) Low
3 – (Q) Quite low (low noise)
4 – (E) Very low (silent)

The drycoolers are designed for outdoor installation. Depending on the power and design, the fans can be arranged in a single row from 1 to 6 pcs. or in two rows from 2 to 12 pcs.

All models are available with vertical or horizontal placement.

HULL

Dry cooling towers (chillers) have their own support system and do not require additional mounting devices for placement.

The dripline body is made of galvanized steel and painted with a special electrostatic paint that provides protection against corrosion, precipitation and UV rays. The standard color is RAL 7044. Each fan has its own chamber (separated by internal partitions) to reduce the influence of neighboring fans. All models are equipped with special lifting (mounting) hooks.

All models are equipped with special service hatches with diameters of Ш800-Ш1000 mm.

HEAT EXCHANGER

The heat exchange part consists of profiled aluminum fins with 5/8″ copper pipes (D series). The distance between the fins can be: 2.1, 2.5 and 3.2 mm.

A special engineering solution in the design prevents any contact between the pipes and the bottom and ensures that the pipes do not fray and leak, thereby guaranteeing a long service life. Inlet and outlet connections of copper pipes are made through a special fitting. Tested at a pressure of 20 bar.

Additional treatment against corrosion:

  • Epoxy coating of aluminum fins;
  • Epoxy coating of the pipe and body.

 

FAN MOTORS

High-efficiency fans of Ziehl-Abegg (Germany) or equivalent Ø630 – Ø800 – Ø1000 mm are used.

Standard fans with a diameter of Ø630 mm use single-phase single-speed motors; fans with a diameter of Ø800 mm use three-phase Δ/Y two-speed motors; fans with a diameter of Ø1000 mm use three-phase Δ/Y two-speed motors.

  • All motors in the fans are suitable for use as multi-speed motors;
  • All motors are equipped with internal thermal protection;
  • All motors are single-speed as standard;
  • The ambient temperature for outdoor installation is from -40 to +50 C;
  • The recommended number of fan motor starts is 4-6 per hour;
  • In the case of prolonged dry cooling tower downtime, it is recommended to run the fans at least once a week for 2 hours;
  • Class F electrical equipment, motor protection IP 54.

 

OPTIONS

  • Multi-speed three-phase electric motors on fans;
  • Additional protection in the motor against short-circuit currents;
  • Different body colors;
  • Other types of electric motors are also available as additional motors.

 

INSTALLATION

  • The dry cooling tower (cooler) must be installed on a level surface capable of supporting the weight of the unit.
  • The piping of the structure must be installed in accordance with the technical regulations, and the vibration that may be transmitted to the cooling tower from other equipment (or device) must also be taken into account.
  • Check the correctness of electrical connections and anchorages before starting the device.
  • Make sure that the direction of rotation of the fans and the air flows are correct.
  • When cleaning the condenser, protect the fan motor from water splashes.
  • Spray with a water jet from a distance of 0.5-1.5 m, with a pressure of no more than 3 bar. Do not use aggressive detergents. For proper installation, please read the maintenance and installation manual.

 

LIFTING AND TRANSPORTATION

When lifting and moving a dry cooling tower (cooler), use special hooks for fastening. It is also important to remember and follow all construction safety rules.

LOCATION

The dry cooling tower should be placed on a metal structure or on a flat concrete platform that is free of stagnant water. Free access of fresh air should not be obstructed by any obstacles. The recommended minimum distance from an obstruction to the dry cooling tower is shown in the figure below.
