Diesel engines of the KTA50 series

The line of heavy industrial electrical equipment from the world-famous Cummins Power Generation brand with a capacity of 1120 to 1340 kW includes three models of diesel generators:

• C1400 D5
• C1675 D5
• C1675 D5A

The units are equipped with KTA50 series engines (total cylinder volume – 50 liters).

The main field of application is the power supply of industrial enterprises, factory workshops and complexes, and commercial institutions.

Consumers and applications of diesel electric generators

The basic standard describing units for generating alternating current is ISO8528. The modifications in the 1400-1675 line belong to the G2 application class, i.e., consumers can be lighting systems, ventilation systems, pumps, compressors, elevators and other medium-load equipment (with the corresponding voltage and frequency requirements).

Three typical connections of Cummins C1400 D5, C1675 D5 and C1675 D5A generators:

• ESP – backup power supply
• LTP – time-limited power supply (up to several hours)
• PRP and COP – primary and long-term energy supply to consumers with variable and constant load

Power plant components

• 4-stroke V-shaped diesel engine with 16 cylinders, with an operating fuel consumption of up to 345 l/h (in the C1675 D5A model – a reinforced KTA50GS8 engine with a consumption of 359 l/h), turbocharged with cooling, direct injection
• Brushless alternator, 2/3 pitch stator windings, rotor directly connected to the drive shaft via a flexible disk coupling
• PowerCommand 3.3 control system with touch-button panel with LCD display
• Cooling system with a coolant volume of 310 liters (including radiator)
