The beer cooling chiller is widely used by modern breweries. It is able to ensure the optimal temperature of the wort at all stages of beverage production, which is critical for the quality of the final product.
Due to the year-round operation, chillers for breweries have to meet strict requirements in terms of reliability and energy efficiency. Fermentation process in the chillers for beer cooling
To produce high-quality beer, the fermentation of beer wort takes place in two stages:
- Primary fermentation is the fermentation of the bulk of carbohydrates.
- Fermentation is the completion of fermentation and maturation of the remaining unfermented beer.
The main fermentation takes place at a temperature of +4…+6°C and lasts 7-8 days. Fermentation takes place at a temperature of +1…+2°C and takes about 20 days.
Low temperature in the range of +4…+6°C is a prerequisite for effective yeast fermentation. In production, the hot hopped wort is cooled, which helps to settle suspended particles, hop resins and evaporate excess liquid.
During fermentation, carbon dioxide is naturally released, which saturates the beer to a standard concentration at a temperature of 0…+2°C and elevated pressure (approximately 0.05 MPa).
After fermentation is complete, beer goes through the following stages:
- Filtration – removal of yeast residues and small particles using separators or vacuum filters.
- Carbon dioxide saturation – to achieve the optimal level of carbonization.
- Storage and bottling – beer is placed in containers before further packaging.
For long-term storage, beer is sometimes pasteurized. Both filtered and unfiltered beer are available on the market, allowing the company to meet the diverse tastes of consumers.
