Design and operation of compressors

Compressors are usually of two types – dynamic and volumetric, which in turn are divided into reciprocating, turbine, centrifugal, rotary, etc. Dynamic compressors use a special moving element that accelerates the movement of gas or air, thereby increasing or decreasing pressure. In volumetric models, a piston or rotor is used as a compressing element, which moves or rotates inside the structure to regulate the flow of gas or air.

Screw compressors are used for heavier applications that require more air. They are powered by two screws that twist into each other to compress air.
