Screws and cylinders of any complexity

During the operation of extrusion lines, extrusion blow molding machines and injection molding machines, wear of screw pairs and material cylinders is inevitable, which requires high-quality replacement sets. We offer single-screw, twin-screw conical and parallel sets of screws and material cylinders with various types of coatings, ranging from nitrided to various types of bimetallic coatings.

Why do screws and cylinders wear out?

The principle of operation of the extruder screw is to uniformly mix the polymer material granules and plasticize them by heating the drum. The temperature of the screw is 270-290 °C, given that the heating temperature is relatively low and the thermal deformation is negligible. As a result, a significantly higher torque is required to achieve the required level of material plasticization. Thus, the screw operates under a higher load, but its speed is low, so it operates under the influence of high voltage and low alternating frequency. This results in deformation of the working surfaces, the appearance of cracks that gradually expand until they reach a critical size, when the entire part of the screw is no longer able to withstand the working load. Surface wear also occurs due to the abrasive properties of polymers, especially due to contaminants in recycled materials.

A thorough analysis of the production processes, applications and materials used to produce plasticizing systems, as well as the emergence of new polymers, encourages us to constantly develop, research and implement new solutions, including:

  • optimization of the production process;
  • increase the service life of plasticizing systems;
  • increase productivity.

The screw is the most important element of the extruder and obtaining high-quality plasticized material with the correct consistency is impossible without maintaining the correct geometry and dimensional accuracy. The quality of the components helps to reduce cycle times, increase efficiency and produce high quality molten material. Cylinders, like screws, are also subject to wear due to corrosion and/or abrasion and require regular replacement.
